The improvements in the production control and in the guarantee that the commercialized packaging are 100% safe and competent to contain products that are orientated to the human consumption have allowed to the companies of Cartonajes la Plana to obtain the BRC-IOP certification by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) in their production plant in Betxí (Castellon), consolidating the support of the food industry and its positioning as one of the model in the corrugated cardboard sector in Spain.

The company from Castellon was one of the first Spanish companies dedicated to packaging and cardboard boxing in obtaining an European food security certificate Good Manufacturing Practice Standard (GMP) of the European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (FEFCO). Now, the cardboard company expands its policy of implementation of safe packaging in the food sector of all its production plants of the firm, starting by the one in Betxí, with the obtaining BRC-IOP certification, the most expanded normative among international markets. Nowadays, the production plant of Onda (Castellon) and Cenicero (La Rioja) are in process on having the same certification to which will be added the ones already available ISO-9001 and 14001, of quality and environmental management, respectively, which will be integrated into the systems of management of the organisation.

The Protocol BRC-IOP (Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials) is an especial version of the BCR normative destined to the manufacturers and suppliers of materials in contact with food, packaging and boxes, and that now also starts to be demanded by manufacturers of medical and pharmaceutical products, cosmetics and baby products among others.
